Grow Dat VISIONS Training

September 14 & 15, 2018 | 9:00 am-4:00 pm

Have you encountered misunderstandings across race, gender, culture, or other difference at your workplace? Are you interested in boosting your ability to communicate effectively in your professional context?

During the VISIONS workshop, participants will first evaluate and establish their associated identities that might grant unearned privileges or deny them access to society's benefits and resources based on gender, race, sexual orientation, etc... During this process, participants explore the assumptions and biases that exist based on these distinctions with the understanding that some may be conscious assumptions, and others may not. Once these assumptions are identified, the facilitators will share tools and processes that empower participants to challenge biases in themselves and others at the 4 Levels: personal, interpersonal, institutional and cultural, with the ultimate goal of strengthening relationships and the participant's capacity for professional development.

VISIONS is a good fit for anyone who works across difference--a supervisor who manages people of different races or generations, educators working with a group of students from different cultural backgrounds, or anyone who works on a diverse team. Participants commonly include people from a wide variety of professional settings: for-profit companies, nonprofit organizations, independent consultants, and educational or religious institutions.
